Asset List for Selling Dell PowerEdge Servers in the UAE

If you send only a column of Service Tags, you are probably leaving money out of your quote. Upgrades made after purchase don’t show up on Dell’s factory record.
Got a list ready? Send it to +971 52 857 3495 or use our server selling page.

Most sellers get stuck on the same points:

  • Is a Service Tag list enough?
  • What did we add after the server arrived?
  • How do I pull the real specs without opening each box?
  • What if the servers are already unplugged in a store room?

Why Service Tags Alone Fall Short

A Service Tag shows how the server left the factory. It does not show what your team added later.

Say you bought a server with 128GB of memory, then added more sticks two years later, or fitted a second processor or extra SSDs. The factory record still shows the original build. A buyer who relies on it will quote the old spec. You can’t blame them for it. You have to tell them what changed.

So send the tags and the as-built details. It takes a few extra minutes per model, and it avoids the “as shipped” quote.

The Asset Table to Copy

One row per identical group, not one row per photo. Fill what you know and mark the rest “unknown”.

Server Asset Register

ModelQtyService TagsCPUsMemoryDrive baysCardsCondition
R6406(list)2× (exact model)8× 32GB8× 2.5"RAID card, 25GbEGrade A
R740xd2(list)2× (exact model)16× 16GB24× 2.5"RAID card, boot cardGrade B, 1 PSU missing

Two columns matter more than people expect. Write memory as sticks times size, for example 8× 32GB, not just “256GB”. And note the drive bay type, such as 10× NVMe or 8× SAS. The same total memory can mean different things, and the bay type changes what the chassis is. For why, see our PowerEdge valuation guide.

Export the Exact Specs

Don’t type specs from memory. Pull them from the server.

  • iDRAC: the web page has a hardware inventory view. RACADM can export it too, using racadm hwinventory. Dell’s guides cover the syntax for your firmware.
  • Dell tools: OpenManage Enterprise can export inventory for many servers at once.
  • VMware: if the servers run vSphere, RVTools exports host hardware to a spreadsheet.

A single Service Tag is also easy to read on Windows using a command from Dell’s Service Tag guide. For the spec options of each model, see Dell’s technical guides for the R640 and R740 and R740xd. Dell also lists the PERC H740P if you are unsure which controller you have.

Tip: export before you power down. Once the rack is cold and unplugged, you lose that shortcut.

Servers Already Unplugged?

You can still get a useful quote from photos. Four clear angles are usually enough to start.

  1. Front of the server, showing the drive bays.
  2. Rear, showing the power supplies and cards.
  3. The label, with the Service Tag.
  4. Inside, with the lid off on one representative unit, showing the memory and processors.

If the servers are identical, one opened unit can stand for the group. Say so in your message. Don’t open every server.

Send the photos and the table to +971 52 857 3495 or email info@selltechdubai.com.

Before You Send It

Clear management settings first. See our guide to resetting iDRAC and our drive-removed guide. For a full rack exit, read the decommissioning guide. Mixed office clearances can use office IT equipment buyback.
