Sell Cisco Catalyst 9200, 9300, 9400 & 9500 in the UAE

If you want to sell Cisco Catalyst 9200, 9300, 9400 or 9500 switches in the UAE, start with the part number. It tells a buyer almost everything: the family, the port count, the PoE type and whether an uplink module is fitted.

How Buyers Rank the Families

The 9300 is the campus workhorse and usually draws the most interest. The 9200 sits below it, and the 9400 and 9500 serve the core.

  • 9200 and 9200L: access-layer switches for branches and smaller sites. Good value, fewer features.
  • 9300 and 9300X: stackable campus switches. The most common model in office refreshes.
  • 9400: a modular chassis. You sell the chassis, the supervisor engines and the line cards.
  • 9500: fixed core and aggregation switches with fast optical ports.

For used 9300 and 9200 units, price depends on the exact model, so never list “a Catalyst 9300”. Cisco’s data sheets for the 9300 and 9200 list every variant.

Read the Letters in the Part Number

The suffix tells you what the switch can power and how fast its ports are. It moves the offer more than most sellers expect.

On these switches, a data-only model and a PoE model look the same from the front. They are not. A switch that can power access points and phones is worth more than one that only passes data, and a higher PoE class is worth more again. Multigigabit models, which suit newer Wi-Fi, also sit higher.

Check the part number on the label and against the data sheet, because the letter codes differ between families. Note the power supplies too. A PoE switch with a missing or weak power supply cannot deliver its full budget.

Tip: photograph the label on the back or side, not just the front panel. The part number is printed there.

A fitted uplink module adds value. An empty slot does not.

Many 9300 switches take a removable network module for fast uplinks, and some 9200 models do too. Fixed-uplink variants, like the 9200L and 9300L, do not. If your switch has a module, note its part number and speed. Leave it installed. Buyers often need it, and a loose module is easy to lose.

Selling a 9400 or 9500 Core Switch

For the modular 9400, the chassis is only part of the sale. The supervisors and line cards decide the rest.

List the chassis model, each supervisor engine, every line card and every power supply separately. For the 9500, record the model and the optical ports in use. Check Cisco’s data sheets for the 9400, its supervisor engines and the 9500.

Before You Send Details
