Decode the Model Name First

The code on your Legion tells a buyer the generation and the power tier. Read it off the bottom sticker or the Lenovo Vantage app.

• Gen 8 (Intel 13th Gen HX): 16IRX8, 16IRX8H

The 16:10 WQXGA panel is the one buyers ask for first. The base 120Hz FHD screen (250 nits, 45% NTSC) sells lowest.

Thermals: Please Don’t Repaste It

Lenovo uses a factory phase-change thermal pad on many Legions. Wiping it off for ordinary paste often makes temperatures worse, not better.

Standard paste can pump out over time. A DIY repaste is the first thing I look for on a high-power unit.

On the bench we run a load test and watch CPU and GPU temperatures. A laptop that throttles early gets a lower offer.

Bench tip: if you already repasted it, say so. A buyer who finds out later will cut the price.

The Charger and DC Port

The original Legion charger is part of the sale. High-power models can’t hold full performance on a weak substitute.

The 230W, 300W and 330W Slim-Tip bricks are the ones Legion buyers expect. A 100W USB-C charger will not replace them.

We also check the rear DC-in port for bent or loose pins. A wobbly port is a repair cost.

Other Checks That Move the Offer

• RAM: 16GB sells fine. 32GB sells faster. Check with msinfo32 (Win + R).
• Battery: run powercfg /batteryreport. A swollen battery is a safety risk, so tell us before pickup.
• Screen: dead pixels, pressure marks and backlight bleed lower the quote.
• Keyboard: worn keys and dead RGB zones count.

Before Pickup: Wipe Your Data

Sign out, back up and wipe the drive properly. Follow NIST SP 800-88 for a clean erase.
